Egypt says drone caused fires on two ships at Damietta port—first direct draw-in risk

Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly said investigators recovered drone traces after fires damaged two ships at the Mediterranean port of Damietta. British firm Ambrey said drone strikes hit a U.S.-owned floating gas storage facility and a Greek-owned tanker; no injuries were reported.
If attributed to Iran or an ally, the incident would mark Egypt’s first direct draw into the U.S.–Iran war. Yemen’s Houthis denied involvement. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi did not outright deny Iranian involvement but called Egypt an important friend and warned of Israeli “false-flag” plots.
