U.S. and Saudi Arabia strike Iran-backed militias in Iraq, shattering brief pause
Confirmed
What we know
U.S. Central Command said American and Saudi forces struck Iran-aligned logistics and weapons sites in eastern Iraq after more than 30 IRGC-directed drone attacks in 72 hours on U.S. forces and Saudi infrastructure—ending a multi-day lull that followed 13 nights of U.S. bombing inside Iran.
Iraq’s PMF said at least 20 fighters were killed and 32 wounded across multiple provinces. The raids coincided with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Washington visit. Oil prices rose on escalation risk.
