What we know

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea “cannot go unanswered” after Tehran said one sailor was killed and others injured. Ukraine’s SBU and President Zelensky described Saturday long-range strikes hitting vessels used for Iran-linked military cargo, plus other sanctioned shipping and a Russian missile boat.

The Caspian is a strategic Russia–Iran supply corridor. Kyiv dismissed Iranian retaliation threats; Tehran summoned Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires.
