Indian police have detained Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi during youth-led protests in New Delhi, calling for education reforms, after he called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation.
Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Party, staged a sit-in outside the Prime Minister’s residence, stating that Modi must resign 'for destroying the future of India’s youth.
The demonstration continued with Gandhi and other lawmakers being forcibly bundled into a bus by police, with images of the incident shared on social media.
Police reported 60 civilians and 118 police personnel injured during the protests, with the Congress party leader Sandeep Dixit stating that the Constitution was trampled upon.
