Congressman Chris Smith, representing New Jersey's 4th District, has been working on Lyme disease legislation since 1992. His latest effort, the Lyme Disease Initiative Act, has been approved by the House.

Smith introduced his first bill on the topic in 1998, marking almost three decades of dedicated work on the issue.
