Witnesses reported seeing the plane climbing before suddenly veering to the right, according to Reuters. The crash site was near a housing development on the edge of the airfield.
The Transport Minister, Philippe Tabarot, described the death toll as 'particularly heavy' in a post on X, and the incident was called a 'terrible tragedy' by local officials.
