What we know

U.S. Central Command said Friday that U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites after Iran hit the Singapore-flagged cargo ship M/V Ever Lovely with a one-way attack drone on June 25 as the vessel exited the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast.

President Donald Trump called the ship attack a “foolish violation” of the June 17 U.S.–Iran interim memorandum of understanding and told reporters “You’ll find out” when asked about a response. CENTCOM said the strikes were a response to aggression that “clearly violated the ceasefire” and undermined freedom of navigation. Iranian officials rejected Washington’s account, framed Hormuz control as ceasefire “management,” and later accused the United States of breaching the deal; U.S. officials said the Friday strikes concluded about an hour after CENTCOM’s announcement.
