Seattle Launches Climate Ready Curriculum to Boost Community Resilience
Developing
In Short: Seattle introduces a new Climate Ready Curriculum to help communities prepare for climate impacts like extreme heat and flooding, prioritizing support for vulnerable groups.

Hot sunny days and irregular weather have officially hit Seattle for the summer, signaling the arrival of climate change impacts. While the city works to reduce emissions, it's also preparing communities for the climate changes they are already experiencing.
The new Climate Ready Curriculum, co-created by several community organizations, is designed to help neighbors prepare for climate threats specific to Seattle. The curriculum is free, live, and accessible for diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of preparedness.
Seattle is updating its Climate Action Plan and encourages community involvement. The curriculum advances the plan's goals of building community resilience and ensuring solutions are scalable.
Prioritizing support for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities, people with low incomes, outdoor workers, youth, elders, and those with disabilities, the city aims to ensure that climate resilience efforts are inclusive and effective.
