Lines between Bedford and St Pancras remain closed this weekend, according to British Transport Police.

The authorities have received two main messages: sympathy for the killed driver and a call for investigators to be allowed to do their job.

Both East Midlands Railway companies involved in the collision have stated their full support for the investigation.

In a separate incident, a shooting near 15 East Grant Street in downtown Minneapolis left two dead and five injured, including three officers, as a crowd gathered nearby.

Mayor Ellison expressed support for the responding law enforcement and offered assistance to their efforts.
