President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the U.S.-Iran war, with Trump putting pen to a hard copy at a Versailles dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron after the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains and Pezeshkian signing in Tehran, officials and state media said. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose government mediated, said the deal took immediate effect.

U.S. officials briefed reporters on a 14-point framework that calls for an immediate halt to military operations on all fronts including Lebanon, reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, steps to unwind the U.S. naval blockade, and a maximum 60-day window to negotiate a final deal on Iran’s nuclear program and sanctions. Trump warned the United States would resume strikes if Iran violated the pact; G7 leaders publicly backed the Hormuz reopen and pressed for a robust Lebanon ceasefire.
