The United States and Iran reached a memorandum of understanding on Sunday to end more than 100 days of war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced after mediation with Qatar. Both sides declared an immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, with a formal signing ceremony set for Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.

President Donald Trump said the deal was complete, authorized toll-free opening of Hormuz and removal of the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, and said oil would flow again after Friday’s signing for mine clearance. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi confirmed the halt; the announcement came hours after Israeli strikes in Beirut briefly threatened the talks.
