Anthropic disables Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US Commerce order

Confirmed

What we know

Anthropic disabled customer access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after the U.S. Commerce Department ordered the company to suspend all access by any foreign national, inside or outside the United States, including Anthropic’s own non-U.S. employees. The company said the only way to ensure compliance was to take both models offline for all customers; other Anthropic models remained available.

Anthropic said it received the directive Friday evening and understood the government believed a method of jailbreaking Fable 5 had been demonstrated. The company disputed that a narrow jailbreak should force a public model offline for hundreds of millions of users and said it was working with authorities to restore access.
