What we know

The House on Tuesday narrowly passed the Secure America Act (S. 2), a reconciliation package providing nearly $70 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and parts of Customs and Border Protection through fiscal 2029. The recorded vote was 214–212, with Republicans unified and Democrats plus Independent Rep. Kevin Kiley opposed; three Republicans and one Democrat did not vote.

The White House framed the bill as ~$38 billion for ICE, ~$26 billion for Border Patrol and ~$5 billion for contingencies, front-loading annual-style funding so deportation operations are not interrupted. Democrats called it a blank check after Minneapolis ICE controversies; Speaker Mike Johnson said border and immigration enforcement funding was "long overdue." The Senate cleared the measure 52–47 last week; Trump is expected to sign Wednesday.
