The Israeli Air Force and Navy conducted strikes in Gaza, targeting top Hamas commanders, including the deputy head of the security mechanism and three other officials, the military announced.

Gaza health officials reported that at least nine Palestinians, including five from the same family, were killed in the attacks, which hit four apartments early Thursday morning.

The security mechanism, a clandestine Hamas body, is responsible for protecting top Hamas officials and coordinating their activities, the IDF stated.

The strikes come amid ongoing tensions, with Hamas carrying out shooting attacks on Israeli troops, and Israel responding to violations of the truce or perceived threats.

Since the truce began, at least 930 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes, according to Gaza health officials.
