What we know

Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska, ranked world No. 114, reached her first Grand Slam final Thursday at Roland Garros with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win over 25th seed Diana Shnaider. She is the first qualifier to reach a major singles final since Emma Raducanu at the 2021 U.S. Open and the first Polish woman into a French Open singles final.

Eighth seed Mirra Andreeva, 19, booked the other final berth earlier Thursday by beating Marta Kostyuk 6-1, 6-3. The Saturday final pits Andreeva — tour-leading wins this year — against Chwalinska's nine-match qualifying-to-final run that began three weeks earlier.
