Shnaider stuns No. 1 Sabalenka to reach French Open semifinals

No. 25 Diana Shnaider came from a set and a double break down to beat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 in the Roland-Garros quarterfinals on Wednesday, reaching her first Grand Slam semifinal. Sabalenka led 4-1 in the second set and served for the match at 5-4 before collapsing, losing 12 of the last 13 games in windy conditions on Court Philippe-Chatrier; she said afterward she just wanted to "quit tennis right now."

Shnaider next faces Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska, who beat No. 22 Anna Kalinskaya 7-6 (3), 6-3 to become only the second qualifier into a Roland-Garros women's semis after Nadia Podoroska in 2020. In the men's draw, Flavio Cobolli beat Felix Auger-Aliassime and Matteo Arnaldi advanced when Matteo Berrettini retired injured, setting an all-Italian semifinal.
