What we know

No. 15 Marta Kostyuk beat fellow Ukrainian Elina Svitolina 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in an emotional Roland-Garros quarterfinal on Tuesday to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal — the first Ukrainian woman into the French Open semis in the Open era. She dedicated the win to Ukrainians after another deadly overnight Russian strike wave on Kyiv, improving to 17-0 on clay in 2026.

Kostyuk next faces Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva, who beat Sorana Cirstea 6-0, 6-3. Kostyuk leads their H2H 2-0, including the Madrid final, and will not shake hands under wartime protocol. In the men's draw, Jakub Mensik ended Joao Fonseca's run 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (3) and will face Alexander Zverev, who beat Rafael Jodar.
