What we know

The U.S. military said Tuesday that Iran fired missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain that failed or were shot down, and that U.S. Central Command responded with strikes on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM also said it downed multiple Iranian drones targeting American forces in Kuwait.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it had targeted the headquarters of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet in Bahrain and another country — without naming Kuwait — after what it called a U.S. missile hit on an oil tanker trying to reach Iran despite a blockade. Semiofficial Iranian agencies reported Tehran had stopped communicating with mediators about extending a ceasefire; President Trump called those reports "false and erroneous" and said conversations were continuing "continuously," including that day.
