Ukraine drones hit Russian energy sites; denies Zaporizhzhia strike
Confirmed
What we know
Ukraine said Sunday its long-range drones struck Russian energy infrastructure overnight, including the Rosneft Saratov oil refinery about 700 kilometers from the front, the Lazarevo oil-pumping station in Kirov region more than 1,200 kilometers away, and a fuel depot at Matveyev Kurgan in Rostov region. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the Saratov hit "Ukraine's long-range sanctions," while Russian governors reported fires, evacuations near the Rostov depot, and damaged "civilian infrastructure" without always naming the facilities.
Separately, Kyiv denied Russian claims that a Ukrainian drone struck the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant on Saturday. Rosatom said a drone tore a hole in a Unit 6 turbine-hall wall and detonated; the IAEA said inspectors observed exterior turbine-building damage consistent with a drone impact and that radiation levels remained normal.
