What we know

Nineteen-year-old Brazilian Joao Fonseca produced a Chatrier epic Friday, rallying from two sets down to beat 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5 in the French Open third round after four hours and 53 minutes. Fonseca closed with three straight aces after saving a break point while serving for the match, becoming the first teenager to beat Djokovic at a Grand Slam.

With Alcaraz absent through injury and No. 1 Jannik Sinner already gone, Djokovic's exit removed the last former major champion from the men's draw and guarantees a first-time Slam winner in Paris. Fonseca, the No. 27 seed, next faces Casper Ruud in the round of 16 after the two-time finalist beat Tommy Paul in five.
