What we know

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner opened his French Open campaign on Tuesday night with a 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 victory over French wildcard Clement Tabur on Court Philippe-Chatrier, stretching his tour winning streak to 30 matches. The 24-year-old Italian, chasing the career Grand Slam and the only major missing from his résumé, needed 2 hours 8 minutes and did not face a break point against the 171st-ranked Tabur.

Sinner returns to the scene of last year's five-set final loss to Carlos Alcaraz, who is sidelined with a right wrist injury, leaving the top seed the overwhelming favorite in Paris. Next up is Argentina's Juan Manuel Cerundolo. Elsewhere on Tuesday, sixth seed Daniil Medvedev and ninth seed Alexander Bublik exited in the first round, while American fifth seed Jessica Pegula fell to Australia's Kimberly Birrell.
