Ship seized off Fujairah heads toward Iran; Indian cargo sunk near Oman

A commercial vessel anchored about 38 nautical miles northeast of the UAE port of Fujairah was boarded by unauthorized personnel and directed toward Iranian territorial waters on Thursday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said, AP, NBC News, UPI and Al Jazeera reported.
Separately, Indian authorities said the Indian-flagged cargo ship Haji Ali sank off Oman after an attack sparked a fire while en route from Somalia to Sharjah; all 14 Indian crew were rescued by Oman's coast guard. No group immediately claimed the Fujairah boarding. The incidents came as Trump and Xi in Beijing agreed Hormuz must stay open, and as Iranian officials reiterated claims of control over the waterway and a right to seize U.S.-linked tankers.
