Six people have been killed and many injured in a series of Russian drone attacks across Ukraine, according to Volodymyr Zelensky. The strikes, which occurred on Wednesday, are part of a larger campaign by Russia, which launched 800 drones throughout the day and warned of potential missile launches.
Local authorities reported additional casualties and damages. In the Donetsk region, one person was killed and four wounded, while in the Kharkiv region, five people were injured and several residential houses damaged. Russian drone strikes were also reported in Odesa, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Poltava regions.
The Ukrainian air force reported that between 08:00 and 18:30 on Wednesday, Russia launched 753 drones at Ukraine, following an initial 139 overnight. Meanwhile, the Russian defence ministry claimed to have intercepted 286 Ukrainian drones over 14 Russian regions and Crimea since Tuesday evening.
In a statement, Russian forces said they were using a significant number of strike drones to overload Ukraine's air defence system and strike civilian targets. The strikes have been reported in multiple regions, including Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa, causing injuries and damaging buildings.
