What we know

Lebanon's health ministry said Israeli strikes killed 39 people across the country in a single day of intensified raids despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire with Hezbollah, BBC, Al Jazeera and regional outlets reported into Sunday.

One of the deadliest hits was on the southern town of Saksakiyeh (al-Saksakieh), where the ministry said at least seven people were killed, including a child, and 15 were wounded, among them children. Israel said it struck Hezbollah militants operating from a military site and that reports of civilian harm were under review. Cross-border fire has continued since the April truce, with a third round of U.S.-hosted Israel-Lebanon talks still scheduled for May 14–15 in Washington.
