What we know

Three Israeli drone strikes on vehicles just south of Beirut on Saturday killed four people, while airstrikes across southern Lebanon killed at least 13 more, including a man and his 12-year-old daughter, AP, PBS and Lebanese authorities reported.

The Beirut-adjacent drone hits — on the highway toward Sidon and a road toward the Chouf — marked another escalation since the April 17 U.S.-brokered ceasefire with Hezbollah. Al Jazeera put Saturday's nationwide toll at least at 24. Israel said Hezbollah fired explosive drones that wounded three Israeli soldiers; Hezbollah claimed multiple attacks inside Lebanon and a drone strike on Misgav Am. A new round of U.S.-mediated Israel-Lebanon talks is still scheduled for May 14–15 in Washington despite Beirut's demand that strikes stop first.
