President Donald Trump on Friday insisted a U.S.-Iran ceasefire remained in effect after American and Iranian forces traded fire around the Strait of Hormuz, calling U.S. self-defense strikes a "love tap" while warning Tehran to sign a peace deal quickly, BBC, ABC, Reuters and TIME reported.

U.S. Central Command said Iranian forces launched missiles, drones and small boats at three Navy destroyers — USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta and USS Mason — as they transited the strait toward the Gulf of Oman; CENTCOM said no U.S. ships were hit and that U.S. forces struck Iranian missile and drone launch sites, command nodes and ISR facilities. Iran's top military command accused the U.S. of hitting an Iranian oil tanker and coastal areas including Qeshm Island, and claimed it damaged U.S. vessels. The UAE said its air defenses engaged Iranian missiles and drones early Friday, with three moderate injuries reported.
