Wembanyama’s double-double lifts Spurs past Blazers; San Antonio reaches West semis
Confirmed
What we know
Victor Wembanyama recorded 17 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks, and the San Antonio Spurs never trailed in eliminating the Portland Trail Blazers 114-95 on Tuesday night in Game 5, AP, CBS Sports, ESPN and NBC Sports reported. De'Aaron Fox scored 21, Julian Champagnie added 19 and Dylan Harper had 17 as San Antonio led by as many as 28 and closed the first-round series 4-1.
The Spurs advance to the Western Conference semifinals for the first time since 2017 and will face the winner of Minnesota–Denver; the Timberwolves led that series 3-2 entering Thursday's Game 6. Portland shot 35.1% and finished with a 102 offensive rating in the clincher, NBC Sports noted, ending a playoff run that had forced San Antonio to dig out of early deficits in Games 3 and 4.
